Passing on the Right Revisited

No Pass On RightI hope that an article about passing on the right might help at least some drivers understand the rules and help improve the driving community. I have made a point of keeping to the right side of the lane to try and prevent vehicles from passing. One day a driver fingered and yelled at me, yet the driver was attempting to do something illegal (even though many drivers perform this illegal act).

CASE LAW - Chang v Alcuaz

BC Courts Coat of ArmsThe case of Chang v Alcuaz examines an intersection collision where the drivers approached each other at right angles. Both claim that they were facing a green light when they proceeded into the intersection. It is interesting to see how the judge determines which driver had actually faced a green traffic signal.

Q&A - Pushing Me To Go Faster

motorcycleI was on a motorcycle trip a few years ago with a friend , and was riding about 10 km/h faster on a two lane highway and cars were still pushing me to go faster. "He's a pretty bad driver" the dispatcher relayed from the business owner, "he should probably get a ticket."

Blue Line LogoIn some municipalities firefighters are attending collisions instead of the police. I've never felt comfortable with this decision for a number of reasons but even our government has joined in by removing the requirement to report collisions to the police. Morley Lymburner, publisher of Blue Line Magazine, a Canadian trade publication for the police writes on the subject.

ADVICE - Cross Your Safety Chains!

Boat TrailerI'm not sure if you'd call it a 'positive subject' but I don't remember in my 75 years (56 as a driver) reading much about safety chains on trailers.... Lot's of drivers these days are towing little domestic trailers around, moving garden refuse, furniture, dirt bikes and other 'stuff' from A to B...
