Within the BCEHS (bc ambulance service) our communications system has become staffed with new, non medically trained personell that use a computer system to triage calls. Due to many reasons we're being sent "code 3" (emergency driving mode) for calls that are at times ludicrous.

Yesterday, over a 6 hr. span, my husband had consumed 4 cans of beer, and 2 5oz glasses of 11.5% white wine, with lots of ice. My husband is 165 lbs. He had an 8 hr. sleep. He woke up in the morning, did his usual coffee, shower, shave, etc. ( 1hr.
I glanced at the driver stopped beside me at a red light today. He was bending the rules, busily chatting with someone via the cell phone that he was holding to his ear with his right hand. A marked police vehicle pulled up to our right and stopped to wait for the red as well.
I noticed on a Saturday there does not appear to be any work being done in the construction zone but all the single file and speed limit signs are still up. Does anyone understand how annoying it is to drive single file at 80K, then 60K then 50K for 5 kilometres only to find no construction or the construction is off the highway on the other side?
Can we all agree that distracted driving is a bad thing? Probably. Would we also consider that this would be more important for an inexperienced driver than a practiced one? Very likely. Did you know that our laws concerning the use of electronic devices while driving actually reflect this thought? Surprise!
Fifteen year old Wiael Hmaied was crossing diagonally across Clarke Road in Port Moody near the Barnett Highway. He was walking against the red light displayed at the nearby intersection, not using a crosswalk, when he dropped his cell phone.
I was wondering if you could cover a subject that is a pet peeve of mine. I have observed some RCMP members using a cell phone while driving their patrol car. Are they exempt from this law? I thought distracted driving was distracted driving. I see this happen at least once a week.
