Q&A - Riding Motorcycles and Bicycles Side by Side

Q&A ImageRecently there have been a couple articles regarding bicycles and motorcycles riding side by side. To the best of my knowledge this is not illegal for the motorbike but when the bicycle does it and encroaches into the traffic lane. Because the bike is unable to maintain, in most cases the same speed as a motor vehicle this makes it a huge hazard but I don’t know or remember if this is illegal.

Q&A - Changing Lanes In an Intersection

Q&A ImageToday I was almost in a traffic collision. I was turning right and people across the intersection were turning left. The street we were turning onto had two lanes either side of the centre. I assumed all of the people turning left would end their turn in the left-most lane because they were turning out of the only left turn lane and I was taught you shouldn't be changing lanes in an intersection.

Q&A - Novice Driver Crashes, Then Drinks and is Suspended by Police

Q&A ImageI have a question and after reading some of your articles, you may be the one to clarify this for me. My son, who is a novice driver in GLP of BC, was in an accident here on Vancouver Island. He was the only one involved, going into the ditch but sustained a large 2" gash on his chin, right down to the bone.

Q&A - Disputing a Red Light Ticket

Q&A ImageI got a traffic ticket for not stopping at a red light. However, I believe that I entered the intersection before the signal turned to red. There was no camera to support this charge.

I did not stop because my car was accelarated, I believed stopping would cause a more dangerous situation. Also, it was difficult to make a clear judgement because the situation was urgent.

Q&A - Red Light Camera Situation

Q&A ImageI got distracted by something and I only saw the red light late so I slammed the brakes and managed to stop the car, but the front tires entered the crosswalk. I'm sure that intersection has those camera; will I get a ticket for that? I totally came to a full stop but as I said, I kinda entered the crosswalk.

Q&A - Backing Into My Driveway

Q&A ImageMy driveway opens into a four lane street. To back into the driveway I shoulder check, when it is clear to do so I turn into the center lane from the curb lane and back into my driveway. Is this the proper way to enter my driveway? Someone told me this may be illegal. If so what is the best way to enter my driveway and are there any references to the ICBC website or driving book. I was not able to find anything about this.

Q&A - Coasting Downhill

Q&A ImageQuestion: I often coast down a high hill in order to save on gas if there is no traffic behind me. I notice that there is a traffic offence called: "Coast down grade illegally" on the ICBC website with a fine of $121.00 and a 2 point assessment. Is what I do coasting down grade illegally and why would that be a problem?

Q&A - Alphabet Soup: GVW, GCWR, GAWR and More...

Q&A ImageI am working to determine the total weight, dry and loaded, of our new boat which will be arriving this spring.  Most of that data I am able to get from the manufacturer or dealership.  Unfortunately, our current SUV is not rated high enough to pull the new boat.  That in turn means we will eventually have to buy a new vehicle – I am researching several to determine their towing capacity.  For this sum
