Recently there have been a couple articles regarding bicycles and motorcycles riding side by side. To the best of my knowledge this is not illegal for the motorbike but when the bicycle does it and encroaches into the traffic lane. Because the bike is unable to maintain, in most cases the same speed as a motor vehicle this makes it a huge hazard but I don’t know or remember if this is illegal.
Today I was almost in a traffic collision. I was turning right and people across the intersection were turning left. The street we were turning onto had two lanes either side of the centre. I assumed all of the people turning left would end their turn in the left-most lane because they were turning out of the only left turn lane and I was taught you shouldn't be changing lanes in an intersection.
Question:
I would like to know if it is proper for an officer to write me a traffic ticket without witnessing the incident himself. When I tried to pass a car on the right on a one lane street, the car I was trying to pass hit my rear bumper on the left side. I called the police to report this.
I have a question and after reading some of your articles, you may be the one to clarify this for me. My son, who is a novice driver in GLP of BC, was in an accident here on Vancouver Island. He was the only one involved, going into the ditch but sustained a large 2" gash on his chin, right down to the bone.
I got a traffic ticket for not stopping at a red light. However, I believe that I entered the intersection before the signal turned to red. There was no camera to support this charge.
I did not stop because my car was accelarated, I believed stopping would cause a more dangerous situation. Also, it was difficult to make a clear judgement because the situation was urgent.
I got distracted by something and I only saw the red light late so I slammed the brakes and managed to stop the car, but the front tires entered the crosswalk. I'm sure that intersection has those camera; will I get a ticket for that? I totally came to a full stop but as I said, I kinda entered the crosswalk.
I am wondering about the rules for making vehicle modifications. There are many custom trucks and 4x4s of all sorts on the highway with big tires and lift kits. I would like to modify a vehicle by building custom control arms.
My driveway opens into a four lane street. To back into the driveway I shoulder check, when it is clear to do so I turn into the center lane from the curb lane and back into my driveway. Is this the proper way to enter my driveway? Someone told me this may be illegal. If so what is the best way to enter my driveway and are there any references to the ICBC website or driving book. I was not able to find anything about this.
Question: I often coast down a high hill in order to save on gas if there is no traffic behind me. I notice that there is a traffic offence called: "Coast down grade illegally" on the ICBC website with a fine of $121.00 and a 2 point assessment. Is what I do coasting down grade illegally and why would that be a problem?
If a person has been told by their doctor not to drive due to cognitive impairment what are the consequences if this person chooses to drive?
