I Want to do the Speed Limit

Q&A ImageQuestion: What advice do you have when driving in heavy traffic that is averaging 25 to 30 km/h over the posted speed limit? I was crossing Lake Okanagan bridge a few days ago in the right lane and if I went 15 to 20 km/h over the posted 60 km/h limit I was still the slowest vehicle there.

Q&A - Bus and HOV lanes

HOV SignSince leaving CMBC, I have been driving a senior's society's bus. Metro Vancouver has roads with lanes signed to show they are for HOV, Buses only, Vanpool & Buses, or "Authorized Vehicles only". If the bus is empty, I don't use an HOV lane, but will use the Buses only, and Vanpool & buses only lanes.  When full, I use the HOV, Buses only, and Vanpool & Buses lanes.

Q&A - Unpaid Traffic Tickets and Collection Agencies

Question: Q&A ImageAre collection agencies involved in collecting unpaid traffic tickets issued in BC? The collection agency that contacted me has been sending correspondence to an address in Delta. I have not had a drivers licence in BC or lived in BC for a long time. Now 7 years later they want me to pay the fine or risk having it effect my credit rating.

Q&A - Yellow Light Collision

image of a yellow lightQuestion: I am driving westbound on Moscrop Street, approaching the intersection with Willingdon Avenue in Burnaby. The signal changed to a yellow light and I decided that I was past the point of no return so I did not brake. A driver coming toward me decided to turn left and we collided. ICBC has found me to be partly at fault.

Disputing a Yellow Light Ticket

image of a yellow lightI was recently issued a ticket for failure to stop at a yellow light at an intersection. I am a class 2 bus operator and given the total stopping time of my class 2 vehicle (perception/reaction/actual braking time) and the fact I had a elderly person seated at the front on my bus, I thought it would be unsafe to either try and make a smooth controlled stop (which would have left the bus past the stop line) or make a sudden stop (possibly causing the elderly passenger to leave her seat).
