New Drivers

This is another video from the Australian Transport Accident Commission of Victoria state. Denial is the winner of the 2005 Make a Film, Make a Difference competition. The competition is designed to encourage young film makers to submit an idea that will make their mates think twice before taking risks on the road.

The Legal Rights for Youth web site is a project of the Justice Education Society. One of the resources on the site outlines driving laws and highlights some of the legal problems you may face once you obtain your driver's licence. While the topics don't go into signifcant depth, they do serve to highlight for new drivers the significant responsibility that they now face as licenced drivers.

Can someone with an L from BC drive in all the provinces? The family is planning a cross Canada trip and my son has his L. We were planning to drive back through the US. Can a person with an L from BC drive in the US?

My husband and I are planning to take the 14 hour drive from Peace country down to the okanagan, on to vancouver and back to alberta for the long weekend in May. I'm super excited to visit my small home town and be able to drive around in it. We got to talking and I can't find anything anywhere stating I'm not allowed to drive in B.C.

A new Road Safety Monitor (RSM) poll by the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) shows that a majority of young Canadian drivers are aware that they cannot drive safely after drinking alcohol. The public opinion poll conducted in September 2010 investigated a variety of drinking and driving behaviours and attitudes among youth including riding with a drinking driver.

I need some serious help here! I am an N driver and I've sped twice in an almost two year period. Once was 110/kmph in a 90 and another time was 109kmph/ in a 90/kmph zone. Both occured in a 4 month period whilst I was driving my ,then ,17 year old friend (living on his own) to work. I was late, it was summer road conditions and I didn't want my friend to get fired.

This study released by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is based on a small group of teen drivers using a vehicle equipped with an event data recorder called Drivecam. The Drivecam system records video and data based on abnormal triggering events such as sudden steering or braking. Recorded events were compared and contrasted for beginner (supervised) and novice (unsupervised) drivers.

Question: I got a speeding ticket in Vancouver at the Georgia Viaduct. There were about 3-4 cars driving in front of my 5 ton truck when I got onto the viaduct from downtown. About 200-300 meters away the road forks into two, one to Prior and the other to Main.

If you insist on "do it yourself" when your teen needs a driving instructor, be prepared to do the job right. After all, safe driving is a life skill well worth learning properly from the beginning. Your teen trusts you, but are you really prepared to do a comprehensive job as a teacher?

For as long as I've known people that were nearly old enough to acquire a license I've been hearing the same things over and over again. It doesn't seem to matter how young or old someone is, almost all of them will offer up the fact that they are "really good drivers".
