Question: Last week I received my first ticket in 41 years of driving. I had recently started driving taxi part time in Nanaimo. At the end of a 9 hour shift I dropped the taxi off and got into my own car. Five minutes later I went through a school zone without slowing down, having missed the school zone sign.
I sat in court to see what it is like in traffic court as I have never been to one before. I noticed that on many occasions, the officer would take the defendants outside of the courtroom to speak to them about their plea to the court.
The 5 recent fatalities on Comox valley roads indicate that the fatal accident rate here, is about 3 times the BC average,in the past 5 months I hope that someone is paying attention to the causes of these preventable deaths.
I'm just wondering if there is something in writing that states that the person who is being the supervising passenger, that is of age and holds a valid licence, is also required to be of sound mind and body. This meaning, specifically, that if the supervising passenger is drunk and unable to drive, they can still technically be the valid passenger, and the person with the "L" can still drive them home.
What advice do you have when driving in heavy traffic that is averaging 25 to 30 km. over the posted speed? I was crossing Lake Okanagan bridge a few days ago in the right lane and if I went 15 to 20 km. over the 60 km.
I live in a cul de sac and I have always parallel parked on the street in front of my home. My neighbour is insisting I angle park so that it will allow an additional parking space in front. In my opinion angle parking would be contrary to section 190 of the Motor Vehicle Act. Am I correct or can we angle park in the cul de sac?
I was recently towed from a business lot in Kelowna and my car was impounded. The lot is quite large and services multiple businesses. There are no signs when you enter the lot to indicate that it is a private lot.
Since leaving CMBC, I have been driving a senior's society's bus. Metro Vancouver has roads with lanes signed to show they are for HOV, Buses only, Vanpool & Buses, or "Authorized Vehicles only". If the bus is empty, I don't use an HOV lane, but will use the Buses only, and Vanpool & buses only lanes. When full, I use the HOV, Buses only, and Vanpool & Buses lanes.
Question: I was hoping if someone could point me in the direction of any laws on cars using private driveways to turn around. I have many cars using my driveway to do two-point turns to change directions and it's driving me a bit crazy. One car nearly hit my daughter who was in the driveway having just got out of my car.
