TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) has released a research document titled Guidance for the Design and Application of Shoulder and Centerline Rumble Strips. The report explores the design and application of a shoulder or center line rumble strip as a crash reduction measure, while minimizing adverse effects for motorcyclists, bicyclists, and nearby residents.
