This video by Technology Connections made me stop and think for a minute. Brake lights all work the same way, don't they? Apparently not now that we have electric vehicles with regenerative braking. These vehicles can slow abruptly without triggering the brake lights according to this video.
Hmm, I can slow down by using my manual transmission and not activate the brake lights on my vehicle. Isn't this somewhat the same? Not so according to the video when aggressive regenerative braking is chosen by the driver. I've yet to encounter this but it brings to mind that the two second rule might not be enough and those who choose to tailgate or follow too closely might want to re-evaluate their default settings.
