I am tired of trying to make a left turn at an intersection and having the opposing traffic going around the other guy that is also trying to turn left. I can't seem to finish my turn till we run out of cars. I am talking about intersections without lights. I've asked the local sergeant but he's not sure what to do about it.
I am talking about Main Street in Osoyoos, single lane no turn lanes, no lights. Just lots of people that can't wait.
I took a look at the main street of Osoyoos to see what you are explaining:
Here is the article on this site that explains passing on the right. Since the main street is wide and there is room for traffic to pass by the left turn vehicle opposing you and the angle parking, the pass is legal.
However, if you have stopped signalling your intention to turn left, the vehicles opposing you that are passing on the right of the vehicle across from you that has stopped to turn left must yield and let you turn left. Here is the article on this site that explains yielding on left turns.
In a nutshell, if you are stopped waiting to turn left, a vehicle across from you is stopped to turn left and someone passes by that other vehicle preventing you from turning left, that driver is guilty of failing to yield to a left turn vehicle.
