We have children as young as 4 and 5 years old walking to and from Ecole Oceanside Elementary school with their families. They cross at the intersections of Wright Road and Highway 19A, as well as Wright Road and Wembley Road (a 4 way stop) without the benefit of school crossing guards.

We live in a wonderful country where violence is still something relatively rare. If we are stopped by the police we tend not to worry and dig out our driver's license and vehicle registration wherever it might be in the vehicle. Some people even get out and walk back to the police car to see what is going on. These actions are meant to be polite and save time but today are not the right thing to do.
This case involves a passenger car and a tractor-trailer that collided on a snow-covered stretch of the Coquihalla Highway. I've probably said this before, but when I applied the same tolerance under the speed limit as I did for those driving over the speed limit and factored in the advisory signs for speed I seldom found a driver going slower. Having sat and considered for a minute, I cannot recall writing a ticket for impeding traffic during my enforcement career.
