Last week we looked at what you should be entitled to expect as a driver on B.C.’s highways. It only seems fair that we should examine what your duties as a driver are this week. As before, if I miss or misstate any of them, you are welcome to e-mail webmaster@drivesmartbc.ca and express your opinion.

Gurpreet Dhaliwal and Herman Randhawa were driving southbound on 152nd Street approaching 76 Avenue in Surrey, British Columbia. Mr. Randawa attempted to change lanes and, in doing so, struck the driver’s side of Mr. Dhaliwal’s car with the passenger side of his vehicle.
Question: I just wanted to confirm, but it seems to me that Christmas lights on your vehicle would be considered unauthorized lighting and illegal. I've known a few people to run them, never heard of anyone actually getting tickets for it.
From the video description: If you are travelling BC highways during the winter months please be prepared and be aware - drive to conditions and take your time to get where you’re going. Our maintenance contractors are out there clearing our highways and provincial roads to make it safer for those driving on them and so we are asking anyone who is on the road with a snow plow to please steer clear and let them clear the road. It is never safe to pass a snow plow on the right or weave between plows when they are clearing the road.
