Collisions

This is a very interesting book about distracted driving. Interwoven with the story about Reggie Shaw and how he caused a double fatal collision by texting while driving is information on the research and researchers who are studying how our brain deals with the distraction from mobile phone use while driving. To put it bluntly, we are incapable of driving safely while using a mobile phone, hands on, hands free or texting while driving.

This case involves a collision that occurred on Quarry Road in Coquitlam, B.C. Todd McQuillan stopped the Chevrolet Aveo he was driving on the shoulder just past the crest of a hill in order to photograph a bear that had crossed the road in front of him. Madam Justice Gray found that it was possible that part of the vehicle was in the travelled part of the lane. The road has a posted speed of 50 km/h.

I was given a ticket after I alledgedly hit a parked car with no one inside.

I was first given a ticket for breaking section 68(1) for hitting this vehicle. Several days later a different officer of the Port Moody police came back and gave me a second ticket for breaking section 68(2). These 2 tickets were given to me for the one single alledged offense. They both have the same date as well.

Pinned to the top of the home page of the DriveSmartBC web site is a collision counter. Each day it ticks upward showing an estimate of the collision results to date on BC's highways. The numbers shown are calculated using the most recent averages from ICBC and the BC Injury Prevention Unit.

We buy products that we expect will perform according to the manufacturer's claims for them. In this case the product is a restraint for our canine friends when they ride in our vehicle with us. The claim is that the restraints will protect the animal. CBC Marketplace testing finds the contrary, our expectations may be putting both our pets and ourselves at risk.

Harris Wheeler was driving northbound on Highway 97 in the vicinity of the brake check at the top of the South Taylor Hill. A moose ran across the road from his left and hit the front of his truck. The moose lay on the road and Mr. Wheeler stopped a short distance away to assess the damage. He did nothing to warn others of the moose.

Posts on X by @ScanBC this week reported a half dozen collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians around the province in a four hour period. Are you surprised that collisions with pedestrians are occurring?

so if I take a left turn onto say hastings which has three lanes I will obviously take right of center line or closest lane, other vehichle turning right does same thing and goes wide arc straight toward right of center bypassing the use of slow or center lane and we collide, whos fault?

I was hit by a car today in Ladysmith BC. I was walking my dog on the sidewalk a car drove out of the drive thru , did not look and hit me hard enough to knock me a few feet to the ground. I call the rcmp. No charges for the driver. I seemed to be at fault. Please explain
